Improve the Safety of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Flights – NTSB Most Wanted List 2010

Monday, March 8th, 2010

Courtesy NTSB

The National Transportation Safety Board today issued its 2010 Federal Most Wanted List of Transportation Safety Improvements, adding rail, aviation and marine issues, and updating the status of other issues on the list. At the same time, the Board removed the issue areas dealing with improved protection for school bus passengers and fatigue in the pipeline industry.

“Every one of the hundreds of currently open safety recommendations address concerns that the Safety Board has uncovered in its accident investigations,” NTSB Chairman Deborah A.P. Hersman said. “But the recommendations on the Most Wanted list represent those improvements that can have the widest benefit.”

Besides removing two issue areas on the list, the Board reviewed the remaining 13 issue areas on the list and added two new ones. Each issue area is color coded by the NTSB to designate its action/timeliness: Red for Unacceptable Response; Yellow for Acceptable Response, Progressing Slowly; and Green for Acceptable Response, Progressing in a Timely Manner.

Improve the Safety of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Flights

•Conduct all flights with medical personnel on board in accordance with stricter commuter aircraft regulations.

•Develop and implement flight risk evaluation programs for EMS operators.

•Require formalized dispatch and flight-following procedures including up-to-date weather information.

•Install terrain awareness and warning systems (TAWS) on aircraft used for EMS operations.

why can’t people understand medical battery and psych/mental comp issues?

Sunday, March 7th, 2010

i lost track of how many t imes i’ve asked..people keep assuming i was being evalutaed for psychiatric treatment–ebven though i clearly indicate it was physical..and think its okahy for a med pro to force treatment for a physical condition on a comeptant adult

Medical Battery
by Leona Egeland Siadek, Vice President, Government Relations
Medical battery is defined as the intentional violation of a patient’s rights to direct his or her medical treatment. No injury or negligence is necessary for a finding of medical battery. Battery involves an unauthorized touching of another person. Medical battery occurs when a patient is treated without informed consent. Most commonly, battery charges are alleged where there is a dispute over whether the patient agreed to treatment or refused treatment. The agreement or refusal of treatment can be made directly with the patient, through an advance directive, or through a health care proxy.
Even when the treatment involves a life-saving procedure or when a seemingly small contact occurs, it can be deemed offensive or harmful. Laws governing medical battery vary from state to state in the same way that laws governing medical malpractice vary. The doctor does not mean to cause harm, but if the treatment is without consent, it is said to be imposed against the patient’s will.

This is NOT a MENTAL HEALTH issue like people keep assuming.

I was assumed to be incomeptant to make medical decisions because of cognitive ability/mental status…NOT being a danger to myself or others..

By law..medical pros (EMT/Nurse/DOC) needs to make a good faith attempt to verify competency…not 6 hours later like they did to me

This situation involves a chronic PHYSCIAL Condition that I was forced to undergo treatment fro (under the threat of being held hostage). They assumed I had an altered mental status..and did not evaluatre for 6 hours…when they later determined I was of sound mind and perfectly capable of refusing phsycal care for my chronicphysical condition
maybe people can relate to this

picture an adult with cerebral palsy–using a wheelchair and having distorted speech..yet person is a professional with a masters degree working in a professional field..

this person is forced to undergo treatment for a ’suspected stroke’ because the EMt and doctors assumed he was incompetant to refuse..until 6 hours later when they fianlly bothered to determine competance..and he wasn’t having a stroke..his condition was normal foir him
I DID NOT SAY IT WAS A PSYCH HOLD___GO BACK AND READ THE QUESTION….
I WAS TOLD I HAD TO CONSENT AND UNDER GO TREATMENT OR THEY WOULD KEEP ME THERE__HELD HOSTAGE__UNTIL I AGREED
this is not about a psych hold
This is NOT about a psych hold
thsi is NOT ABOUT A PSYCH HOLD

You said the last time you posted this question that it was a psyche hold. I would like you help you but you keep changing the story.

Yes, you can be held involuntarily on a psyche hold. However, you admitted the last time you posted this that you gave consent to treat. It doesn’t matter that you later changed your mind.

Chances I will be an alcoholic when both Parents are alcoholics?

Monday, March 1st, 2010

Does anyone know what percentage of a chance a child with both parents being an alcoholic has to becoming an alcoholic themselves?

Please no 12 step god crap and if all you have to say is just stay away from it. please dont post.
Im looking for an actual percentage from some kind of medical publication. thanks!

Do you worry that you will be an alcoholic? What predisposes a person to alcoholism?

Genetics: Do you have the genetics for alcoholism?

Scientific studies support that alcoholism does have a genetic component. If one or both your parents are alcoholics, you have four to eight times greater chance of becoming an alcoholic compared to someone whose parents are not alcoholic (Wllliam Lavallo, Director of Behavioral Science Laboratory at the VA in Oklahoma City and author of this study). In other words, alcoholism runs in families. If you think you are drinking too much or might have alcoholism please read my free guide about the symptoms of alcoholism to assess if you or a loved may have an alcohol problem.

Are there other important risk factors that predispose you to alcoholism?

Being male. Alcoholism is twice as common in men.

Having a tendency toward “behavioral disinhibition”. According to Peter Flynn (professor of psychology at Indiana University at Bloomington), if you show behavior that is consistent with being impulsive, not easily influenced by negative consequences, have trouble delaying gratification and tend towards always getting immediate rewards, you are at a much higher risk. ( May 2006 issue of Alcoholism: Clinical & Experimental Research).

The diagnosis of “Conduct Disorder” in childhood (children with this tend to be impulsive, break rules, show cruel or aggressive behavior, lie etc. ) and alcohol dependence appear to be genetically linked based on twin studies (Tatiana Foroud,Ph.D., an associate professor of medical and molecular genetics and psychiatry at Indiana University School of Medicine, and colleagues).

Anxiety is also a risk factor for developing symptoms of alcoholism. People with an anxiety disorder are two to three times more likely than the general population to abuse alcohol (I will deal with this in more detail in a separate post).

Depression elevates your risk as well. 5-10% of people with depression develop alcohol abuse (40% of people who abuse alcohol will develop depression. Remember, alcohol is a central nervous depressant.

People with Attention Deficit Disorder have two to three times the rate of alcoholism. One explanation is that they are self medicating a “wired” brain. Also, the disorders are genetically linked.
Bipolar Disorder and alcohol abuse often coexist.

The bottom line is this: If you are an impulsive guy that worries, who has a tendency toward depression or mood swings, with a family history of alcoholism- WATCH OUT! Stay away from alcohol consumption or get help if show the symptoms of alcoholism.

Why has Obama spent Millions to Prevent Publication Of His Birth Certificate? Why do so if nothing to hide?

Thursday, February 25th, 2010

FactCheck has produced a CERTIFICATION of Live Birth for Barrack Obama. Unfortunately this is not a birth CERTIFICATE. A certification of live birth is provided to anyone born anywhere, even overseas, upon request of the Hawaii Medical Examiner. (Heres an example of that happening: http://sites.google.com/site/obamabirth/Home/obama-short-form-birth-certificate)

Here they are falsely representing the certification as a certificate:
"…When we asked about the security borders, which look different from some other examples of Hawaii certifications of live birth, Kurt said… "

Obama has spent Millions of dollars to prevent the release of his birth certificate.(See here: http://worldnetdaily.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=89078)

He has furthered his costs by suing anyone pursuing the document from him or Hawaii.

Here is a Hawaii CERTIFICATE:
http://sites.google.com/site/obamabirth/Home/obama-short-form-birth-certificate/hawaii-birth-certificate-1963.jpg?attredirects=0

Here is Obama’s Certification:
http://sites.google.com/site/obamabirth/Home/obama-short-form-birth-certificate/Obama-Short-Form-28.jpg?attredirects=0

Here is the Certificate MCCAIN VOLUNTARILY PROVIDED:
http://sites.google.com/site/obamabirth/Home/obama-short-form-birth-certificate/mccainbirthcertificate.jpg?attredirects=0

So why spend millions if nothing to hide?
Again the question is why has he spent millions to prevent the publication of his birth certificate?

Thats the only question I’m asking. Whats your opinion on why he is suing people who try to obtain his birth certificate.

I don’t care that you think that other certificate is enough to make him president. I actually agree. I just want to know why you think he has spend millions to prevent his Birth Certificate, not his Certification of Live Birth, from being made public?

The question is that, and is based solely on the fact that he has done this. Please answer the question I have posted, not your opinion on me, or on bush, or on anything else.
"The idea that the certification of live birth is different from a birth certificate is one which appears to have come from nowhere. The state of Hawaii has confirmed that they are in possession of his long-form certificate, and that it confirms he was born there. He posted what he had, which was the CLB. If you note, at the bottom it clearly says it is valid legal proof. face it, you have no valid points."

That is all fine and good. But why then spend millions of dollars to keep his actually birth certificate private? Thats all I asked. You are unwilling to answer the question because you do not like the implications that can be drawn from its factual basis.

The idea that the certification of live birth is different from a birth certificate is one which appears to have come from nowhere. The state of Hawaii has confirmed that they are in possession of his long-form certificate, and that it confirms he was born there. He posted what he had, which was the CLB. Where can I find the article "Metabolic Basis of Fibromyalgia & other Rela. Conditions by Garrison & Breeding

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

I know it was published in 2003, I think the publication is called Medical Hypothosis. The full title is Metabolic Basis of Firbomyalgia and Other Related Conditions and Possible Resistance to Thyroid Hormone by Richard Garrison and Paul Breeding from Houston, Texas

I found the following copy of the article it does have refference numbers that you should be able to access maybe with help from your local library.:
A metabolic basis for fibromyalgia and its related disorders: the possible role of resistance to thyroid hormone.

Journal: Med Hypotheses. 2003 Aug;61(2):182-9.

Authors: Garrison RL [1], Breeding PC.
[1] Corresponding author. Correspondence to: R.L. Garrison, MD, 3306 Montavesta Drive, Apt D70, Lexington, KY 40502, USA. Phone: 1-859-420-0888; Fax: 1-859-268-0026
Received 4 April 2000; accepted 10 October 2000; available online 11 June 2003. NLM Citation: PMID: 12888300

It has long been recognized that the symptom complex of fibromyalgia can be seen with hypothyroidism. Hypothyroidism may been categorized, like diabetes, into type I (hormone deficient) and type II (hormone resistant).

Most cases of fibromyalgia fall into the latter category. The syndrome is reversible with treatment, and is usually of late onset. It is likely more often acquired than due to mutated receptors. Now that there is evidence to support the hypothesis that fibromyalgia may be due to thyroid hormone resistance, four major questions appear addressable.

First, can a simple biomarker be found to help diagnose it? Second, what other syndromes similar to Fibromyalgia may share a thyroid-resistant nature? Third, in non-genetic cases, how is resistance acquired? Fourth, what other methods of treatment become available through this new understanding?

Preliminary evidence suggests that serum hyaluronic acid is a simple, inexpensive, sensitive, and specific test that identifies fibromyalgia. Overlapping symptom complexes suggest that chronic fatigue syndrome, Gulf war syndrome, premenstrual syndrome, post traumatic stress disorder, breast implant silicone sensitivity syndrome, bipolar affective disorder, systemic candidiasis, myofascial pain syndrome, and idiopathic environmental intolerance are similar enough to fibromyalgia to merit investigation for possible thyroid resistance.

Acquired resistance may be due most often to a recently recognized chronic consumptive coagulopathy, which itself may be most often associated with chronic infections with mycoplasmids and related microbes or parasites. Other precipitants of thyroid resistance may use this or other paths as well.

In addition to experimentally proven treatment with supraphysiologic doses of thyroid hormone, the thyroid-resistant disorders might be treatable with anti-hypercoagulant, anti-infective, insulin-sensitizing, and hyaluronolytic strategies.

Medical vaccinations a crime, an outrage, and a delusion!! What do you think about this?

Saturday, February 20th, 2010

There must be some very important medical facts that our doctors are hiding from us, The JW’s know all about it, why weren’t we told?

Medical vaccinations a crime, an outrage, and a delusion!

From a JW publication in 1929 we find;

"Thinking people would rather have smallpox than vaccination, because the latter sows seeds of syphilis, cancers, eczema, erysipelas, scrofula, consumption, even leprosy and many other loathsome affections. Hence the practice of vaccinations is a crime, an outrage, and a delusion" (Golden Age, Jan. 5, 1929

Will you now not have that vaccination you had planned?

And in 1967 we get;

Organ transplant equal to Cannibalism!

"When men of science conclude that this normal process will no longer work and they suggest removing the organ and replacing it directly with an organ from another human, this is simply a shortcut. Those who submit to such operations are thus living off the flesh of another human. That is cannibalistic. However, in allowing man to eat animal flesh Jehovah God did not grant permission for humans to try to perpetuate their lives by cannibalistically taking into their bodies human flesh, whether chewed or in the form of whole organs or body parts taken from others." (Watchtower, Questions from Readers, Nov. 15, 1967

Don’t worry about a transplanted heart, i would rather die. Is that your thoughts as well?

Let us not forget our 1961 contribution;

The real reason blood transfusions are feared… sin transmitted by blood!

"The blood in any person is in reality the person himself. … poisons due to personal living, eating and drinking habits … The poisons that produce the impulse to commit suicide, murder, or steal are in the blood. Moral insanity, sexual perversions, repression, inferiority complexes, petty crimes – these often follow in the wake of blood transfusion." (Watchtower, Sept. 1, 1961 page 564)

Science has been looking for these genes for years and we find that the JW’s know all about them.

What do you think?

Organ transplant equal to Cannibalism?? WOW! Just, WOW!

Deductions for medical expenses?

Thursday, February 18th, 2010

I’m having trouble trying to figure out if I can get deductions when doing our taxes for our medical bills for ‘09. They were medical bills I paid to my OBGYN for childbirth delivery and prenatal care, surgery I had to remove my gallbladder after I developed gallstones during my pregnancy, and pediatric care (check ups, immuninizations) for my son, and also I did pay to continue cobra coverage after the baby to continue getting care. I went to the IRS website and found the verbiage below. If I’m reading it correctly it sounds like I may only be able to use the expenses for the gallbladder surgery and maybe the $$ I paid to continue the Cobra insurance? But I’m not sure. Obviously the tax professional will know when I have them done but I wanted to get everything together that I will need. Anyone have any insight? THis is what I found on the website:

Medical expenses include insurance premiums paid for medical care or qualified long-term care insurance. You may not deduct insurance premiums for life insurance, for policies providing for loss of wages because of illness or injury, or policies that pay you a guaranteed amount each week for a sickness. In addition, the deduction for a qualified long-term care insurance policy’s premium is limited. Refer to Publication 502 , Medical and Dental Expenses.

www.irs.gov

Take your adjusted gross income and multiply by 7.5%. Only expenses that exceed that number will do you any good. These will then go to schedule A’s total–and if you can itemize, you can lower your tax bill.

Very few people qualify.
