The only sensible route is to publish Vantage Press themselves; they published the book so they will have all the details. They are still in existence - I just Googled it for you, it took around 15 seconds! They have been going for 40 years, and their website is www.vantagepress.com. They also give details of their address and, I seem to remember, a phone number. You should be able to get all you need from them. Good luck!
References :
The easiest and most efficient way to gather that information would be to contact the publisher directly. Publishers generally have access to services that the general public doesn't, that would tell them how many copies the book has sold, etc. So go to their website and email them, that's the best advice I can give you. Good luck!
