  1. Man, I sure wish I …
Man, I sure wish I had brass balls and be able to spend 5 days a week in an environment similar to Pelican Bay, San Quentin, Rikers Island and Attica all rolled into one. I also managed to escape from Alcatraz, uh, I mean USP, and work for a real publishing company that actually has a respectful and pleasant working environment and earn a living. They do exist. I’d rather beg for money on the subway than make money at some hole like USP. Have fun, buddy!

    this is the exact …
this is the exact kind of attitude displayed by the hacks that run this company. Real ad sales, like I do now at a real magazine, is about relationship building and honesty–not double speak and free tickets to a ballgame. This is hands down the worst job I have ever held in my life. Run by corpulent, dishonest jerks . . .

  3. Actually I sold …
Actually I sold plenty of ads while there. I just didn’t want to be a fat, lying slob like the rest of the human matter employed at this dump. I am much happier elsewhere.

    Stop complaining …
Stop complaining you pussies. All of you probably struck out and didnt sell a thing and you are bitter because you thought you were a sales professional. It takes brass balls to sell ads. Brass Balls. This company is a decent and honest organization to be employed by.

  5. Also used to work …
Also used to work there. It was a hole. Deceptive sales practices as well as the owner’s wife who listens in on your calls and harasses you over the phone. Absolute horrible mess of a place to work. Glad I quit.

  6. I also used to work …
I also used to work at USP. Damn, hands down it was the WORST place I’ve ever worked in. The management including their two mentally ill owners were so unprofessional. The worst one was their Chinese Nazi assistant who thought she could treat people like slaves from the 1800’s. Nonetheless, I quit but only after I received my paycheck and bonus check.

  7. I worked there a …
I worked there a few years ago in the Elmont office. It was like being in a prison for 9 hours. I never had an issue with not getting a paycheck but heard stories so when I couldn’t take being in prison anymore, I quit on payday and cashed my check just in case. I couldn’t imagine being in a worse working environment. Funny thing is, I see former employees occasionally walking around Manhattan, before we say hello, we give each other looks like we’ve been through Vietnam or Iraq together.

    Man O Man!! I used …
Man O Man!! I used to work there and although I think M.Gibbs is one of the greatest men on earth, the rest of ‘em are clowns. CLOWNS I SAY! They stole years from my life and I want them back… If you have any respect for yourself, you won’t ever work there!

    Wow..I was about to …
Wow..I was about to apply, but just another scam job on the New York Times (sigh). Always beware of “Direct Marketing” positions, because that’s really just a fancy term for soliciting. There are many many “direct marketing” companies like this, and they all seem to possess the same shady characteristics. I don’t know how they stay in business.

  10. Anybody who has not …
Anybody who has not been paid or mistreated by this company, University Sports Publications please contact Hayleyshaw83@gmail.comor call 914 960 2266. I am gathering people that have had similar issues that I have had with the company so that they can be dealt with appropriately.

this is a SHIP of Fools run by a thief living in a house of cards

  12. I’m glad this was …
I’m glad this was posted. I used to work for Professional Sports Publications (which is the same company as USP) and I’ve been trying to get a copy of this for some time. CW11 doesn’t have it in its archives.

These guys are ridiculous and this girl got off easy. When I left they SUED me.

    I hope they burn.

  13. I recently …
I recently interviewed a previous employee of this company from their Charlotte, NC office. I have heard similar claims and other unethical sales practices. I was told the misrepresent themselves to customers in order to increase sales. The Charlotte office actually is listed under Professional specialty publications or something close to that.
