Bill Scott: A discussion on Christian Science

Christian Science is the topic on Comcast Newsmakers with Tony Ventrella. Tony’s guest is Bill Scott, the Christian Science Committee on Publication for the State of Washington. The quick-paced interview clarifies many misunderstandings regarding Christian Science. For example, it is not the same as Scientology or faith healing.

The religion is based on the teachings of Christ Jesus and the understanding of a loving God that embraces each of us all the time. Tony shares that he was raised in Christian Science himself, and adds his perspective to the discussion. For more information, go to christianscience.com.

  1. Even if Christian …
Even if Christian Science healing is happening irregularly , the fact that it is happening at all – which it is – means it needs to be better understood. Christian Scientists say there’s nothing miraculous about it – it’s a natural process. If that’s right, CS will eventually help to change some generally held notions about matter, mind and spirituality

  2. Jeez! Good thing …
Jeez! Good thing medical care is 100% effective! Funny how people always turn to prayer and faith when the the last medical card has been played…

  3. The fundamentals of …
The fundamentals of Christian Science are to love God (good) and to love your neighbour. I don’t know about Scientology.

    “Spiritual care …
“Spiritual care should be part of health care?” What a bunch of shit. Yeah, the best way to heal people is to fill their heads full of mythical, supernatural nonsense. Keep these crack pot, faith heads out of the medical field.

  5. What do you mean …
What do you mean that C.S. and Scientology are not related in any way? Their attitude and techniques of dealing with non-believers are very much the same. Don’t tell people that you aren’t promoting C.S. that is exactly what you are doing. And your claim that a couple of families have relied on C.S. for 100 years proves that they are satisfied with it. There are more reasons for a family staying with a religion than SATISFACTION! Start with the fear of living in the world you claim is not real!!
