What critics fail to appreciate is just how much scrutiny scientists devote towards analyzing data. Science provides explanations based on the best supporting evidence. That is why is the theory of evolution accepted by the majority of scientists worldwide, despite what you seem to be implying.

Darwin’s theory of evolution is as well proven as gravity, and anyone who doesn’t believe me should go try the penecillin used 30 years ago and see if it works.

If argumentation is ridiculous, than it deserves to be ridiculed. About 150 years ago there was a sceintist called Charles Darwin. He’d come with a fairly radical theory concerning the origins of species which strongly challenged much scientific orthodoxy. For various reasons, a lot of people didn’t like what he said. They found it intuitively unpleasing.

However, his arguments happened to be very strong and they accounted well for the available evidence. Rather than blathering on about facing persecution, being denied a job (he didn’t need one as it happened), being denied publication in scientific journals, beiong ridiculed and ostracised… He stuck to his main point, whilst being willing to emend where necessary, and convinced just about anybody worth convincing.

Science has been working with freedom of speech for centuries, but within rules of quality control. Rubbish, for example, doesn’t merit publication. It would be a waste of paper and ink.

Anyone has the "freedom of speech" in science to say that the earth is flat and the moon is made of cheese. And other scientists have the "freedom of speech" to say he is an idiot.

To say that nobody can challenge the status quo in science, shows very little knowledge of the history of science! Science is *BUILT* from people challenging the status quo! From Copernicus to Galileo, Newton to Einstein, from Darwin to Hubble … they *ALL* challenged the status quo.

… But they all did it with EVIDENCE. They did the science. They published papers, wrote the books, convinced their peers, fought difficult battles, and eventually triumphed because the scientific community was convinced.

And, no, this isn’t the Darwin Era. That was the 19th century. This is the computer and information era.

And yes, you have freedom of speech. All that means is that the government won’t arrest you for expressing your opinion. You do not have freedom from the social and economic repercussions of your opinions and how and where you express them. Do I have freedom to come to your church this Sunday and give the sermon? I didn’t think so.

And why are you religious types always so whiny and crying about persecution? It’s unbecoming, and hardly suggests that you have the support of the power of the universe. To tell the truth, you come off as pretty ineffectual.
